The interface is navigable by just using the keyboard so it gets really fast to find the right docs when your writing code and need to look up something. I have it running the background all the time and can easily make it foreground with a hot-key (alt-space). With Dash you can view and search through documentation for things like Ruby, Rails, HTTP Status codes, Go, CSS, AngularJS, Node.js and much more. To make it look beautiful I have combined the Tomorrow Night Bright color scheme with the Menlo font. For example I have mapped it so I can use the hjkl-keys to move around between panes and tabs. It has a lot of options for customisation. This is a replacement for Apple’s terminal emulator ”Terminal” that is great.

Also as a bonus it is available on most UN*X like systems which means I always have a familiar editor available when I am working on someone else’s machine. It was well worth learning it as I now have editor that has been customised to my own needs over a couple of years. There is always something new to learn just when you feel like you have mastered a command. Vim takes a while to learn but once you are used to it almost becomes part of your subconscious. The application is a bit rough around the edges but it really works for me as I continue to use it to do my own basic version of GTD. While we can’t say that Notify is a full bore email client, it does a great job of notifying you of and allowing you to preview emails and with its pro features allows you to delete, file them, or respond to them as well. ⌄ Scroll down to continue reading article ⌄ Notify Other than that, Emailganizer is a super powerful app that has some great features like recognition of “context folders” etc.), support for basically any email provider or account type you can think of, add emails as tasks to Exchange, Toodledo, OmniFocus, Things, etc., attach emails to the iOS Calendar, and more. The only two things I can’t stand about Emailganizer is its shoddy name and its shoddy design and UI. When Sparrow for iPhone came out it instantly replaced Mail.app (as much as you can replace Mail.app) on my iPhone, but before that I was using Emailganizer. Mailplane is a tad expensive ($24.95), especially considering the more feature rich Postbox is less than half that, but if you are a Gmail UI nerd, then Mailplane may work for you. You can also have unlimited Gmail accounts in Mailplane. Mailplane adds a lot of niceties to the web experience of Gmail like being able to get Growl notifications or even link documents on your Mac to an email. Mailplane is basically a UI wrapper around the Gmail client for OS X. If you are solely a Gmail user and love the Gmail experience, then Mailplane may be the app for you. ⌄ Scroll down to continue reading article ⌄ Mailplane
